Robert Pattinson puts on the suit as the new “Batman”
Corruption, killings, and despair reign in Gotham City. Bruce Wayne must put on his Batman suit to pursue a series of cryptic clues from the man calling himself “The Riddler.” The clock is ticking. The Batman needs to act fast to save not only the Wayne family’s legacy but also the lives of everyone in Gotham City.
“The Batman” reminds me why I like DC films more than those of Marvel’s. The story was built around reality. While it is darker than other superhero movies (as is DC’s trademark), it didn’t bore the audience. The almost three-hour long film is full of expectedly unexpected twists and turns to keep the audience entertained.
“The Batman’s” setting is dark, seriously dark than any Batman film I watched. The realness of the film makes it like the audience is watching a documentary, a messed up “Dateline” type of film.
The focus on Gotham’s story makes this new Batman film a cut above the rest. The intrigues, politics, and criminal activities are all delved deeper. “The Batman” might be longer than usual, but the audience will be treated to a roller coaster ride with a few surprises along the way.
I was not sure at first about Robert Pattinson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Twilight series) being cast as Bruce Wayne. But seeing him here, I must admit that he was perfect for a recreation of a new era of Batman. He’s got the brooding aura. And he’s hot enough to show his body on the screen. He fits perfectly with the other cast of “ordinary” Gotham residents. He’s perfect as your typical rich guy. Together, the cast blends well with the setting to make it as real as possible. Though Pattinson in a Batman suit? I’m still not sold, but he pulled it fine.
Weirdly, in older Batman versions, we see a technological advancement in Gotham, such as the hypnotic machine from The Riddler of Jim Carrey in “Batman Forever.” However, it’s back to basics in Pattinson’s Batman. The villains here were like real criminals devoid of any powers albeit still devious. I especially approved the way The Riddler here (played by Paul Dano) laid out his clues. Also, kudos to his costume which is just ordinary but really speaks murderer. The new version of his sign (the question mark) is cool, too.

(Sky god Worthy. 5 out of 5 stars). It is a tall order to create a Batman film at par with the classics. Ben Affleck’s failed in this regard. But all the elements check for “The Batman” to make it into the list of the great Batman films of all time.
